Corner of the World Prelude

So there has been some serious lack of content, thats obvious. But heres something in the mean time: A book I've been writing. This is just the prelude as a tease, and I'll post the book a chapter at a time, while i work on it and other things for the site. There should be slew of new songs coming out from all musical fronts related to the site soon. Try to enjoy!

The Past – A Prelude

Frantic footsteps echoed throughout the temple, as four hooded figures scrambled to finish what they so desperately had to. Amongst them, a small figure was making final adjustments to an illuminated control console in the center of the hall.
“Are you done yet?” asked a panicked voice from behind.
“Almost. Get to the entrance I will be there in a few minutes.” the figure at the control console said; a woman's voice. The three others rushed further down the hallway towards the entrance, as the smallest one finished up.
Sudden sounds of weapon fire caused the small, hooded figure to jump and look towards the entrance. Pushing the final button, the console’s lights shut off and the humming sound that gave the temple life slowly died away. The figure hurried down the hall to catch up with the others, only to find their bodies splayed across the ground just outside the entrance. The hooded figure cautiously pulled out a pistol, and pulled back her hood, revealing long, braided, golden hair. Her rich blue eyes were illuminated by the sunlight coming in from the entrance, giving them an eerie, vibrant glow against the dark hallway. She stepped slowly forward outside into the rain, waving her pistol left and right, surveying the bushes and trees trying to find who or what had killed her companions.
A sharp, piercing sound came from her right, followed by a searing pain in her right side. She looked down and saw a small hole in her robe, but no blood. She removed her robe to reveal a light blue jumpsuit, snug and form fitting. Above her belt she saw that her right side had a small wound which looked like it had already cauterized. Brushing her left hand against her left side made her realize what had happened. She brought her hand up to see the blood dripping from her hand. Her world started turning as she stumbled backwards, and fell to the ground.
Five dark figures came out of the bushes along the pathway outside the entrance to the temple, hesitantly moving towards the fallen woman. She crawled backwards inside the entrance, with as much strength as she could muster. Slowly, she made her way half inside and looked up at the panel beside the doors. She tried to reach it with her outstretched hand, but it was too high up the wall. Knowing she was too weak to stand, the small woman grabbed her pistol and aimed for the panel. The figures realized what she was doing and started to dash towards the temple entrance. They were too late; the woman’s pistol went off, destroying the panel. Large stone doors slowly came out from the sides of the hallway. The woman looked at the figures running towards her and smiled, knowing they wouldn’t make it to the entrance in time. She pulled her legs inside the entrance and backed away from the closing doors just as one of her pursuers dived for the door, getting halfway inside. The woman in the blue jumpsuit scrambled backwards as the man in front of her sneered and brought his weapon up at her, ready to fire…
He never had the chance to fire. The large doors closed upon him, crushing his torso and effectively splitting the man in half, right at the waist. A look of shock went across the man’s face as his body fell limp.
The woman sat up against the wall near the doors, staring at the man’s upper torso and the pool of blood forming around the door. She closed her eyes and exhaled with a sigh of relief.
Slowly opening her eyes she saw the illuminated runway in the temple hall growing dimmer, then to a point of blackness. She laid down on her side and smiled weakly, knowing she had achieved what she came to do.
